When you have a mixed operating-system workplace, one of the more difficult tasks is transferring emails between operating systems. However, Mozilla Thunderbird, an open-source, multiplatform email client, uses the same profile file for both Mac- and Windows-based systems. Instead of needing to figure out how to convert your email files into a file type that the other system understands, you just transfer your profile over. This is an easy method that saves a lot of time.
1.
Microsoft Mail Client For Mac
Connect the USB thumb drive to your Mac and wait for it to mount to the desktop. Do not open Thunderbird.
2.
Click the Spotlight magnifying glass at the top right corner of the screen. Type 'Thunderbird' in the search field and click the Thunderbird folder that appears in the results list. A Finder window opens. Double-click 'Profiles' in the window. If you use the default profile, this is the only profile listed in this section; if you use multiple profiles, you have several to choose from. Drag and drop the profile you want to transfer to your mounted thumb drive.
3.
Remove the thumb drive from the Mac and go to the PC. Press 'Windows-E' to open an Explorer window, then click 'Local Disk (C:)' in the left column. Double-click the folder named 'Users' in the right column. Double-click the folder with your Windows username, then double-click the 'App Data' folder.

Double-click 'Thunderbird' in this folder, then double-click 'Profiles.' Insert the thumb drive into your PC. Delete -- or, for fail-safe purposes, rename to an arbitrary value -- the default profile on the PC and paste your Mac's profile in its place. This profile contains all of the emails and server information you need to get your email set up. Once you've copied the profile over, you can access your Mac emails on the PC through Thunderbird.
